Reigate Dance's all singing dancing Musical Theatre Production
Reigate Dance Centre is thrilled to be announcing their first all singing dancing musical production classes in the heart of Reigate. There will be over 30 minor/main parts involving much singing, acting and dancing opportunities, plus 70 chorus parts. This thrilling addition to the RSB Dance Schools calendar is something we have wanted to do for years, and this will be a fresh and exciting venture for our dance schools.
Thoroughly Modern Millie was the 2002 season's most awarded new show on Broadway, based on the original 1967 film starring Julie Andrews. Set in New York 1922, the show is stylish in both era and colourful dance routines, and the show has some big singing and dancing numbers and a huge leading role for the part of Millie. Relatively under-performed locally, we feel this musical will be great project for children who like to take part in musicals.
STORY
Millie arrives in New York from Kansas, searching for a new life. Her plan is to find a wealthy man and marry him - shallow to say the least. However, her plan goes awry and finds herself in the middle of Mrs Meer's evil underworld. Millie's wealthy boss is slow in proposing and she actually falls for a man without a dime to his name - or so we are led to believe.
Thoroughly Modern Millie is a dance-heavy show with dashing leading men, hilarious Chinese villains and set in the 1920s Charleston-styled dancing era. This show will entertain all the way and will sure to be a fun and rewarding experience for children.
